Power N is a powerful Axis controller with PLC and HMI integrated based on a high level RISC processor at 264 Mhz which interfaces to a non-volatile RAM at high speed and parallelism. The Motion Control section, which manages up to 24 interpolated axis, uses a Look Ahead function to execute pre-processing of the axis trajectories in order to obtain high performances. Thanks to the calculation power of this axis controller which integrates PLC and Operator panel, it is possible to control complex machines as transfer working centres with simultaneous processing up to 6 executive independent channels as in Robotics and in all the fields of Industrial automation where high performances and accuracy are requested. Thanks to a rich and powerful set of instructions, the PLC and the sequential CNC allow the development of flexible applications for different fields of automation. It’s possible to connect a maximum of 213 on board I/O. Extra I/O expansions in Ethercat and CanOpen can be added to increase the total I/O. It can manage other automation devices responding to CiA 402 (drives) and CiA 406 (encoder and different transducers) specifications.
The section concerning the Operator panel (HMI) allows the customization of graphic interface and it’s quick as it’s connected directly to the controller and it’s not affected by the delays due to the exchange of data between the controller and the Operator panel. Connectvity provided by this powerful controller permits you to manage drives through CANopen, EtherCAT (with CoE profile - CANopen over EtherCAT) and Mechatrolink-II. It’s also possible to mix the usual interfacing techniques in wired logic through analog signals +/- 10V, Step/Direction, PWM/Direction. The Axis position feedback can come from the internal trajectory generator of the servo drive or from incremental and absolute external encoders. On the front panel there is an USB port to store and upload data, formulas, application programs and firmware on a pendrive. Backup and restore functions allow the update of the system.
Programming is realized using a sole Developing tool for PC created by Tex Computer. This permits the development of programs of Motion control, PLC and HMI. An online Debugging tool is also available allowing the developer to know the value of each variable, machine status, messages, insert breakpoints, verify logic status of the PLC branches and sequential program status as well as the oscilloscope functions to supervise the movements of the axes. The Power N controller, as in all the other controllers of the Power family, has a text editor integrated in the operative system which allows the developer to program on field also without a PC.
